Theme Day - Graffiti

A pedestrian underpass of the highway coming off the bridge crossing the Danube. It is pretty sad to me but to some it is art. The befits the Ides of March. Have a wonderful week-end.
Be sure to visit the other participants of this theme day - here they are:

Indeed this is the kind that doesn't inspire me at all.

I don't look on it as art but if I saw this place I'd be staring with my mouth open. It's amazing looking!

It also looks as if someone has been "dancing on the ceiling." Very interesting...I'm sort of ambivalent about the "art". Wish they could find some way to express their talent in a constructive, not destructive manner, don't you? Cathy

It reminds me of what we see on train boxcars around here.

It is rather dreary looking and not very artistic. I thought the Ides of March was the 15th.

Colorful at least! Happy Theme Day!

I don't like graffiti, but some people have to express themselves publicly.

Nice find. I would hang out here for a while. Maybe with a beer in a bag.

I would say: "Cheers to all the old farts who hate graffiti"

Kate said...

oswegan, beer in a bag? Let's make it some cheap wine to go with the ambience. Scary looking tunnel; don't think I'd waltz through there.

AMAZING! We have a very similar one (similar? It's exactly the same!!!!) in Cascais, Lisbon, in a tunnel!!!!

Don't think I'd like to walk through here. It looks very unsafe.

This is cool :)
I posted works in a subway too!

Sally said...

To me it's better than boring, stained concrete, which is the usual alternative! I don't see it as destructive. What is it destroying? Is the place still functional?

Say g’day to Green Boy

LOL @ Oswegan!

Looks like the Graffiti mongers are battling for supremacy, and so far, the talented one is winning. Your photo helps with the illusion!

This kind of graffiti is slowly being wiped out as some become more commercially acceptable. I like it.

Jilly said...

Wow, that's a lot of graffiti. It seems rather oppressive somehow.

i don't dislike graffiti, but if it's not done right, it just simply brings a certain feel of ghetto-ness in the area. SAD!

I wouldn't want to have to walk this pathway every day. I would find it an assault to my senses. I guess I'd have to wear very dark "shades", look forward, and walk fast . . .

A new meaning to "paint the town red" ;-)

Marie-Noyale said...

It gives colors to the concrete walls of this tunnel!!

Neva said...

I call this a scary place to walk....but a nice photo you took.

Jim Klenke said...

Not much free space left in there.

Janice Thomson said...

Very colorful but not my kind of 'art'. Excellent photos Isadora

Janet said...

I would prefer just plain white walls!

Great choice for the theme day. I love the last photo.

Southern Heart said...

That is quite a lot of graffiti...somehow, I find it a bit sad.

Chuck Pefley said...

Oh Yes!, Isadora, this type of graffiti is disturbing, as you say. But, having agreed with you overall, I suspect that if we looked closely at portions of this work rather than as whole, beauty and creativity could be found. I'm not defending the practice, mind, and deeply offended by the defacing of history and beauty which seems so prevalant in todays world.

an entire underpass...artists got lots of time in their hand...great photo! happy weekend!

Nice shot of all those writings.

Joy said...

It's often the case, isn't it? Underpasses usually attract graffiti crazies.

Happy Theme Day! May I invite you to visit Norwich Daily Photo?

What can I say. I guess that is most common place to do this type of graffiti. I remember seeing those in Japan.

ooo... maybe they should have a competition to see which one's the best! haha

Happy Theme Day!

I think it is not art to me...But it's a great photos!

Thanks for our visit to my site.

Some of the bits are at least colourful.

Better they spray paint in a tunnel than on the sides of buildings and private propery. In its way it does brighten up a dull space.

I agree: there is some that is art, some that isn't and the line can be very thin. I don't think this is. But the photograph shows it very vividly. Here is my CDP: Street Art entry (too late for the list). Thank you.

I don't find this sort of graffiti art. But you did a great job of photographing it.

Great photo - and what interesting discussion it has prompted. It's really interesting to me to see all the different points of view about grafitti. Isn't it great when a photo can prompt discussion and really make you think?

I personally found Sally's comment really interesting, she makes a great point - it does still function so how is it destroyed?

Great post!

Tunnels like this almost beg to be defaced. I agree with most of your commenters, I don't think these sort of tags are "art." But a great choice for the theme.
