Theme Day - Metal

During the move to the country, my old stainless steel serving dishes were handled several times. I remember buying the set of these at the MIT COOP back in 1969 in preparation for our marriage. They were expensive, but because they last 'for a lifetime' we went ahead with the purchase. What did we know of a 'lifetime' then :) It was a good decision - they are still as good as new and just as attractive.

I look forward to visiting my fellow bloggers for their interpretation of the 'metal' theme day. Won't you join me?

Not only a good investment at the time but useful for this theme! I like them, they are so shiny :)

That's nice to have something of personal significance for the theme. Pretty pieces and pretty light.

Composition intéressante par le choix des formes et le petit rayon de soleil que l'on devine par la fenêtre.

Oh these caught my eye. I love old sterling , pewter and stainless. They get lovelier as time goes by. THis is a great shot. Love the light and I love the scratches on your pieces. Time worn which makes them more special.

What a lovely image. I love the light bouncing off those beautiful shiny things. Like Virginia, I'm also partial to old silver and stainless and chrome. Great choice for theme day!

The dishes still look great and you'll be able to pass them along to the next generation, so you should be able to get more than one lifetime out of them.

I wonder if the coop still sells things like these anymore. I'll have to go over and check it out some lunchtime.

Smart purchase! I wouldn't mind a few dishes like that in my collection.

Happy Theme Day!

Thank you very much for the comment that you left on my theme day posting of a photo of a long metal ladder for descending into a cave in Costa Rica.

I should take this opportunity to compliment you and let you know that I have visited your site often. My wife and I spent several delightful days in Budapest during the Christmas holiday season several years ago. I have several photos of Budapest hanging in my house, including a night-time shot from the hill at the top of the cable railway in front of the National Museum across Chain Bridge (of course) to the illuminated St. Stephen's Cathedral on the other side. It is one of my favorite photos, and visitors often ask where it is.

I hope you ate a lot of dinners with them over the last 40 years. It was definitely worth the expense then.
