Alexandra Books & Wine

The first attempt to copy a Barnes & Noble in Hungary is the chain store Alexandra Konyv es Bor. In addition to being able to sit around and read publications, you may sit in the cafe corner and also order wine. The young woman the book store is named after is the daughterof Mr. Oszter, who is having some difficult events facing him these days. First of all, he is a man! As such, being a father of an attractive young woman is proving most difficult for him. First, there was the open debate about Alexandra accepting Playboy's invitation to pose in Playboy. (As the cover claims "The pictures that made Sandor Oszter (that would be papa) lose it".

Latest news is that Alexandra is heading to Hollywood to advance her career. She will be the next "guest" in the home of fellow Hungarian, director Andy Vajna. (The last such guest, actress Kata Dobo, decided to return to Budapest, where she's had some good works since then.)

I hope the bookstore does well, B&N is certainly doing well in the states. Alexandra is quite a beauty, thanks for the link to her photos. I don't envy what her father must be going through.

Hi Isadora,

I love Budapest, and find it the most charming of all cities.

It is amazing how chain stores are taking over the world these days.
Hope it does well.

Thank you for the beauitful photos.

Thanks for the juicy gossip, Isadora ;-)

Seems that Papa has his hands full...but being an actor himself, he should be more tolerant.

A licensed bookstore... That'd be the day! Sigh.

(We are SO behind!)

Yes and soon you too can have a strip mall on every exit that looks exactly the same as the last one.

We'll keep an eye out for Alexandra in the U.S. I was recently inside a Borders Bookstore and it's quite lively during the holiday season.

Hi there - hope you've had a great week-end. Thought the pictures would shake you up a bit in preparation for Monday.

Thank all of you for visiting and leaving a comment. :) Nice to share.

I join Clueless in Boston in hoping the book store succeeds.

About my husband and me, we didn't go to Tiffany's but we did have a little over 10 good years together before he died in 1983. Sometimes things make memories fly into my head, even things in places where we never were together--I just came to Portland in June, 2006--isn't that wonderful, to have that sort of memories? I think so.

Thanks for all the wonderful images of Budapest - next best thing to visiting in person. Best of luck to the bookstore and to papa with his daughter!

That is one of the problems with having daughters. The other is having sons.

Peace comes when they reach 50.

The bookstore looks inviting, and so does your city.

I am very happy to see that it does not say Barnes & Nobel on the wall. I don't have a problem with B&N, but I don't think it is progress when the "Big Box" stores take over a city, especially in another country. Delta is somewhat on the edge of this transition. Lots of Big Box stores in Montrose to the South, and Grand Junction to the North, but only a Wal-Mart here. My hope is that more business will move into Delta's downtown area, and the small stores will survive. I guess I just like small towns :)

Nice shot BTW!

Thanks for stopping by. The recipe for the Aglio Et Olio is two posts below the photos. I'll post the meatball recipe as well. And I love the site. I'll be stopping by to check out your photos more often.

The Barnes & Noble stores here are a great place to browse, but the smaller bookstores are nice for author readings.

So I guess you won't be able to get the Playboy issue at the Alexandra Books & Wine. :-)

That bookstore is an interesting concept....I love that it also serves wine. Also love the bit of scandal involving Alexandra.

What a story. She is gorgeous but I don't blame him for being nuts. The bookstore looks great, one I would enjoy visiting.
