If It's Wednesday...it must be doors

Last Wednesday I've promised you doors once a week. It is hard to beat the doorway you've seen first, so let's follow with a famous door. These are the center front doors of the opera. And THIS! is the ceiling of the drive up portico right before these doors. Simply magnificent.
Enjoy your day and thank you for coming by to visit.

Nice ceiling detail. The door is nice too although not as elaborate/massive as I'd expect to see in a building that dates back to the late 1800s. And particularly that building.

A nice day to you too. :)

Budapest seems to be a very beautiful place. I also took a look at the other door, the one you open every day.

In many ways a door incorporates the life and times of house. You have captured it beautifully.

opera houses are always so beautiful!

Both photos are delightful. It seems interesting to me that Opera Houses always has lovely architecture and elegant furnishings. I think that doors are of particular interest in many buildings; some are very inviting while others are nondescript. This one invites one to come in.

I'm commenting on the door photograph, since its a door day :)--the pink marble (?) and wood combine for a very elegant entrance way.

Fantastic artistry both in the door, ceiling and your photos. Budapest had been one of the cultural centers of Europe and the world. I am glad that such magnificent craftmanship has been preserved and look forward to the cities inevitable resurgence in the arts.

Beautiful door and ceiling, very artistic... modern doors and ceilings don't hold a candle of those from long ago. Things use to be built to last, now I think they are built to fall apart, so builders won't run out of work.

Have you heard of doorways round the world?
There is a link to it on my blog.
This would be ideal for a post.

Cool door, but totally upstaged by the ceiling! WOW. They just don't make them quite like that anymore... at least, only rarely it seems like. Very nice photos!
Thanks,
Wayne

Lovely ceiling. Did you have to lay on the ground to take it?
