Many times I've walked through Budapest being struck by something I wanted to share. Here, I do just that. What follows are glimpses along life's path that had touched my heart. Enjoy! Budapest Daily Photos recently moved to its own home. The photos here may be enlarged by clicking on them unlike BudapestResources.com website, its previous home.
The Invitation
It doesn’t interest me what you do for a living.
I want to know what you ache for
and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart’s longing.
It doesn’t interest me how old you are.
I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool
for love
for your dream
for the adventure of being alive.
It doesn’t interest me what planets are squaring your moon...
I want to know if you have touched the centre of your own sorrow
if you have been opened by life’s betrayals
or have become shrivelled and closed
from fear of further pain.
I want to know if you can sit with pain
mine or your own
without moving to hide it
or fade it
or fix it.
I want to know if you can be with joy
mine or your own
if you can dance with wildness
and let the ecstasy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes
without cautioning us
to be careful
to be realistic
to remember the limitations of being human.
It doesn’t interest me if the story you are telling me
is true.
I want to know if you can
disappoint another
to be true to yourself.
If you can bear the accusation of betrayal
and not betray your own soul.
If you can be faithless
and therefore trustworthy.
I want to know if you can see Beauty
even when it is not pretty
every day.
And if you can source your own life
from its presence.
I want to know if you can live with failure
yours and mine
and still stand at the edge of the lake
and shout to the silver of the full moon,
“Yes.”
It doesn’t interest me
to know where you live or how much money you have.
I want to know if you can get up
after the night of grief and despair
weary and bruised to the bone
and do what needs to be done
to feed the children.
It doesn’t interest me who you know
or how you came to be here.
I want to know if you will stand
in the centre of the fire
with me
and not shrink back.
It doesn’t interest me where or what or with whom
you have studied.
I want to know what sustains you
from the inside
when all else falls away.
I want to know if you can be alone
with yourself
and if you truly like the company you keep
in the empty moments.

Nice ceiling detail. The door is nice too although not as elaborate/massive as I'd expect to see in a building that dates back to the late 1800s. And particularly that building.
A nice day to you too. :)
Lovely!
Oh my! The ceiling is indeed magnificent and delightful to the eye.
That is quite elegant. I am sure your old city has many such treasures.
Stunning! Such beautiful artwork -- thanks for sharing!
Wonderful artistry for all to enjoy--thanks for the great photos. I feel like I'm standing right there.
Very beautiful ! My husband makes doors sometimes, he is cabinet-maker.

Budapest seems to be a very beautiful place. I also took a look at the other door, the one you open every day.
In many ways a door incorporates the life and times of house. You have captured it beautifully.
A very beautiful detail of an exceptional portico.
sous le charme, c'est vraiment superbe. bravo et bonne idée d'une porte différente chaque mercredi
Under the spell, it is really superb. Bravo and good idea of a different door every Wednesday
i discover your blog- you like architecture ! nice shot
un superbe plafond
opera houses are always so beautiful!
Both photos are delightful. It seems interesting to me that Opera Houses always has lovely architecture and elegant furnishings. I think that doors are of particular interest in many buildings; some are very inviting while others are nondescript. This one invites one to come in.
wow, very impressive, lots of nice details.
How neat. The details on the door and ceiling are so cool.
Simply magnificent!

I'm commenting on the door photograph, since its a door day :)--the pink marble (?) and wood combine for a very elegant entrance way.
Fantastic artistry both in the door, ceiling and your photos. Budapest had been one of the cultural centers of Europe and the world. I am glad that such magnificent craftmanship has been preserved and look forward to the cities inevitable resurgence in the arts.
Beautiful door and ceiling, very artistic... modern doors and ceilings don't hold a candle of those from long ago. Things use to be built to last, now I think they are built to fall apart, so builders won't run out of work.
Have you heard of doorways round the world?
There is a link to it on my blog.
This would be ideal for a post.

Fantastic shot of the ceiling!
Thanks for visiting my NorthBayPhoto blog.
i'm back for the doors ... hahaha . i'm working on a folder with old doors and doorways from old town brasov .
oh , it is a cable internet and is not expensive (10 us$ / month) but the quality is always a problem , never like this last 3 days though ...hahaha
Very grand indeed. I would expect to be greeted by a butler.

Wow!! That ceiling is simply spectacular!! The marble in the first photo is very pretty too. I love the idea of showing photos of doors. I'll look forward to seeing more!
Cool door, but totally upstaged by the ceiling! WOW. They just don't make them quite like that anymore... at least, only rarely it seems like. Very nice photos!
Thanks,
Wayne
The ceiling is just fabulous!!! (The doorway is quite OK also!)
Lovely ceiling. Did you have to lay on the ground to take it?
I am delighted both with the elegant door and calling details. Just wonderful!
Very beautiful photos! The ceiling is gorgeous!
Thanks for visiting my Leaves of Grass blog. Have a nice day.
Oh wow. The artwork of the ceiling (roof?) is outdoors and yet it is in perfect condition. It is wonderful.
