Gloomy Sunday

We were promised the beginning of a cold front today and the battle is apparent on the sky. One one side the sun is trying to triumph but the rest of the sky is gray.

There are so many beautiful details in this city that one never runs out of finding yet another morsel. They simply don't make them like this anymore.
Doors such as this are virtually everywhere on the large downtown blocks. Small visual gifts for the eyes of the beholder.

See what I mean - here is another example. Simply beautiful in the middle of downtown.

Wonderful detailing, Isadora; right down to the carved ivory doorhandle.

If I tried to put a door like those on one of my buildings, the accountants would have a fit!

These are beautiful. Not only are the carvings on the door but also the play of light on the mellow wood are stunning.

The crafstment who carved these doors..so much skill! Here in Canada we find that craftsmen of the sort who can create these treasures are a dying breed!
Wonderful photos!

Must confess that, though I'm a fan of Budapest, I think I didn't find your blog before; shame on me! Loved to see your beautiful pictures. They make justice to such a beautiful city!

Exquisite detail and workmanship, from the stones surrounding the doors to the wire screens to the carving. I'm so glad you've shared them. And thanks for stopping by to see Flat Stanley.

They simply don't, that's right. Delightful wood carvings on those doors.

I do hope the sun won the battle for the sky today. And that it shone beautifully on all the doors.

Thank you all for coming by! The sun didn't come out but it was not a bad day overall.

Nice looking door with all those intricate carvings. Some people might pass by and never really notice all those details.
