Opera Christmas Tree
The major streets and avenues are festively lit and the Christmas tree in front of the Opera was being installed and decorated as I walked by. The fragrance of pine from the sawdust was a perfect mood setter.
One of these days, I promise to go out with camera when it is dark and the lights are on to show you why it's been officially said that Budapest looks more Christmasy than Vienna for the second year in a row. Hope you are enjoying your week-end and it is warmer where you are.

i can't wait to see beautiful budapest in christmas lightings!
This is fantastic I love that Red the old lamp poles look great too. I can't wait to see it all lit up at night.
It's beautiful in preparation, of course. But I can hardly wait to see shots of the whole project completed and at night.

I would love to see this wrapping at night time. I had the good fortune of visually touring the opera house last spring. Great care is taken to preserve its magnificence by giving you blue coverings for your feet before you enter the grand hall! My next tour must be both audio and visual ;-) Are the statues of Liszt and Erkel decorated as well?
