Many times I've walked through Budapest being struck by something I wanted to share. Here, I do just that. What follows are glimpses along life's path that had touched my heart. Enjoy! Budapest Daily Photos recently moved to its own home. The photos here may be enlarged by clicking on them unlike BudapestResources.com website, its previous home.
The Invitation
It doesn’t interest me what you do for a living.
I want to know what you ache for
and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart’s longing.
It doesn’t interest me how old you are.
I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool
for love
for your dream
for the adventure of being alive.
It doesn’t interest me what planets are squaring your moon...
I want to know if you have touched the centre of your own sorrow
if you have been opened by life’s betrayals
or have become shrivelled and closed
from fear of further pain.
I want to know if you can sit with pain
mine or your own
without moving to hide it
or fade it
or fix it.
I want to know if you can be with joy
mine or your own
if you can dance with wildness
and let the ecstasy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes
without cautioning us
to be careful
to be realistic
to remember the limitations of being human.
It doesn’t interest me if the story you are telling me
is true.
I want to know if you can
disappoint another
to be true to yourself.
If you can bear the accusation of betrayal
and not betray your own soul.
If you can be faithless
and therefore trustworthy.
I want to know if you can see Beauty
even when it is not pretty
every day.
And if you can source your own life
from its presence.
I want to know if you can live with failure
yours and mine
and still stand at the edge of the lake
and shout to the silver of the full moon,
“Yes.”
It doesn’t interest me
to know where you live or how much money you have.
I want to know if you can get up
after the night of grief and despair
weary and bruised to the bone
and do what needs to be done
to feed the children.
It doesn’t interest me who you know
or how you came to be here.
I want to know if you will stand
in the centre of the fire
with me
and not shrink back.
It doesn’t interest me where or what or with whom
you have studied.
I want to know what sustains you
from the inside
when all else falls away.
I want to know if you can be alone
with yourself
and if you truly like the company you keep
in the empty moments.

Oh, this is a wonderful photo... he is such a delightful fellow to welcome people at the door!
I love croissants... mmm.. my favorite!
The Rocky Mountain Retreat
The statue is indeed welcoming and promises bread of a certain size!! I love all kinds of breads and plain rolls (but not TOO plain). My current favorite (it changes according to whim) is flatbread I buy at my favorite Italian deli. Ummmm, very good!!
The statue is great but, if you don´t mind of course, I would rather go in... I'm just nuts for bread!
What a remarkable way to sell bread...He is delightful! Bet the bread is enjoyable, too!
I prefer breads more than desserts. And that place looks like it would have some delicious breads. Bread is my weakness.
Mmmm a fresh Swedish tea-ring - yes that sounds ever so good!
Cute statue, I think I like the rolls I used to get in Germany, I dont even remember the name they were called. They are real hard on the outside. We used to stuff them with sausage and curry sauce.
I can almost smell the fresh breads! I'd like a big crusty piece with lots of butter. Donuts are good too! This looks like a really good bakery.
My favorite is Warm french bread with Margarine. I could go though a loaf in one sitting! Nice blog by the way. :-)
What a neat little guy! I love his happy face. :)
My favorite bakery product is croissants!
Sounds like most of you are like me - love good bread. Desserts I can pass on but give me fresh, crispy crusted bread and mmmmmmmmmmmm
Thank you for visiting and leaving your comments.
I love warm garlic bread and sweet pastry. Both are no-no's for the figure. Hahaha!
I love the sculpture - reminds me of Wallace & Grommet :-)
It's hard to find a good bakery here in Providence, I don't know why - we have many folks from Italy here. I think that they are moving out of the city.
Thanks for your visit!
very funny statue, very beautiful shot
Me 2 QUiNTiNo
i love fresh bread warm with best butter. well spotted photo :]
He's so cool!
I would not be able to pass him without going in and buying bread.
As for me; I'm a croissant-hog.
Hi. I just discovered your photo blog and it ruined my morning plans. I had to go back and look at every shot! Thanks for the city tour. I'll be back.
This looks yummy! I love fresh baked bread and bagles. In fact, I never met a carbohydrate I didn't like!
ooooh how cute! i can almost smell them baking the delicious fresh crispy bread! i love anything from the bakery but if i were to pick one, i think i'm gonna go with something with custard :^)
I can smell the bread, think i will start the bread machine, YUMMY!
Love the statue and I love breads of all kinds pretty much! I wish we had a full scale bakery here in Seguin. Though I would probably eat too much of it.
Austrian Roggenbrot!
I'm with you. But I like the dough sour.

Great photo. My favorite bakery item, hmmmm...not fancy at all, just a glazed donut.
