Tree of Life

Took a walk through the Jewish quarter today and since the sun was shining the camera came out more readily. This is a metal sculpture in the Synagogue's courtyard called the Tree of Life. It's metallic leaves carry the names of Holocaust victims.

I've seen and photographed some very beautiful trees of life. The one you show in this picture is a most interesting one. Nicely framed by the buildings around it, too. Neat. :)

This is an unusual memorial. It strikes me as a bit uncanny how different all the Holocaust memorials are--at least those that I have seen. Great photo.

This tree reminds me of a weeping willow - and in turn a weeping memorial - its lovely.

hello isadora, and thanks for calling :o) the tree is a most beautiful thing symbolising at one and the same time the two opposing sides of mankind's nature: the will to create, and the will to destroy. if the first were the only will, life would be wonderful. nice pic.

I wonder if this tree of life was used for inspiration for the tree of life in the movie Avatar. The resemblance is uncanny.
